Manual coding of interview transcripts and open-ended survey text takes days. Qualicode is a lightweight AI coding assistant built for individual researchers — paste your responses, get an editable codebook, coded responses, theme charts, and a report you can export.
No team onboarding, no enterprise sales call. Four steps from raw text to a finished analysis report.
Drop in interview transcripts or open-ended survey answers — plain text, CSV, or one per line. No formatting required.
The AI proposes a codebook of themes with definitions. You rename, merge, split, or delete codes before anything is applied.
Every response gets coded against your codebook, with the supporting quote attached as evidence for each code.
Theme distribution charts, quote evidence, and a summary you can export to Word or Excel for your thesis or client deck.
Coming soon — we're pricing for individuals, not enterprise teams.
For context: Dovetail charges $29 / user / month and targets teams. Qualicode is the lightweight solo version — a fraction of the cost, everything a single researcher needs.
Qualicode is currently in beta. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when your invite is ready.
One email when beta opens. No spam, no sharing your address.
Honest answers, since the product is still in beta.
Not yet — we're in beta. Joining the waitlist puts you in line for an early invite. We'd rather ship something that works than rush a broken launch.
Individual researchers: grad students coding interview transcripts for a thesis, UX researchers with a pile of open-ended survey responses, and market-research freelancers who need a fast first pass. If you run a whole research team, Dovetail or Delve may already be the right tool for you.
That's the primary use case we're designing for. Exports (Word/Excel) are built for theses and papers, and codebooks are fully editable so you stay in control of the analysis. Always check your institution's and journal's AI-use policies before submitting.
Your text is processed via the LLM API you connect (or ours, once integrations ship) — we don't train models on your data, and we don't sell it. During beta, uploads are used only to run the analysis you requested. Full privacy details will ship with the beta.
No. The AI generates the first codebook draft for you, and you edit it in plain language. But you should review and approve the codebook — you're the researcher, the AI is the assistant.
We're targeting $9–15/month for individuals — well under Dovetail's $29/user/month team pricing. Exact tiers and any free tier will be announced with the beta launch.
